Welcome to Ligent. I am Kevin Trainor and Ligent is my consulting and training practice. I founded Ligent in 2002. Since then, I have been active in this practice in varying degrees depending upon my other activities at the time.
In addition to my work at Ligent, I am also very active as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois). I teach MS and CAS students who are pursuing LIS careers as part of the LEEP program. LEEP is a distance learning program that takes a hybrid approach to learning that includes both online and on-campus components. The courses that I teach include Systems Analysis and Management, Project Management for LIS, and Foundations of Information Processing in LIS.
In addition to teaching at GSLIS as an adjunct, I also spent several years working at GSLIS full-time as the Assistant Director of the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship (CIRSS). The largest research center at GSLIS, CIRSS research focus includes Collections and Curation, e-Science, Digital Humanties, and Socio-technical Data Analytics.
I am presently searching for a new full-time position in higher education. While doing that, I have been very active in my Ligent training practice. Courses taught include Business Analysis, Project Management and a variety of information technology courses.
