Dear Suellen and Edward, and dear all,
thank you very vey much for the information you sent. Your presentation is
excellent to show real examples.
I hope to contribute to the wiki and to the list a little bit more next
month.
With respect to Kevin Trainor's comments on the survey, about the subject
gateways, I would like to add a modest observation related to the
applications of TM in digital libraries vs. hybrid libraries, because I have
observed that in stand alone digital libraries the catalog and the portal
tend to work together (even the catalog is not as important as in a
traditional library. See for example: http://www.memorynet.org/home.php)
while in hybrid libraries there is a "mixture" of library portal or web
site, library catalog, digital library collections (generally searched by a
different tool than the library catalog), subject guides or gateways (see
for example: http://www.lib.virginia.edu/)....
Maybe TM could be not only a good application for the library catalog
itself, but to connect all this way to organize information within a
library...
Greetings,
Liliana Melgar
